My true passion as a yoga teacher is to support and encourage others to accept themselves. I have been sharing my love of yoga for over ten years, and continue to evolve my understanding of the practice, both on and off the mat. I’m deeply interested in the ways in which yoga asana (postures) not only allow us to access something deeper within but also provide the skills and the courage to explore this in our own lives. In my classes, I find inspiration in moments when I’m able to open up and dig deep. I strive to transition my yoga practice into a larger practice in life.

My teaching home is at YogaWorks in New York City where I lead group classes and teacher training. I’m proud to nurture aspiring teachers in the YogaWorks method because I believe in its ability to provide a strong foundation for smart teaching. My success as a teacher lies in the core of my teaching philosophy, which is to empower students with the tools they need to be their own teacher. I am personally invested in my students and I bring all of myself to each and every class I teach. I use humor to remind us (myself included) to relax in the face of intensity and I draw on my understanding of alignment and anatomy to create intuitive sequences tailored to the students in front of me.

You can practice with me at home on GaiamTV.com or with my Gaiam DVDs, Beginning Yoga and Yoga for Belly, Butt and Thighs. I travel around the country teaching workshops and continuing education for teachers. I teach at large scale events such as Wanderlust NYC and Yoga in Bryant Park, and I’m a brand ambassador for Global GivingLole and Sweaty Betty. I’m profoundly grateful to my teachers—past, present, and future—who have plucked and pruned and primed me to be a clearer conduit of yoga. I’m especially grateful to my two main teachers, Genny Kapuler and Rodney Yee.

When I’m not teaching yoga, I’m cooking in my kitchen with a glass of wine, pouring myself into a recipe with the same wonder and curiosity that drives my yoga practice. One of the biggest joys in my life comes from sharing a homemade meal with the people I love. In a past life, I swear I was either an interior decorator or a Parisian baker. I will most likely be forced to open my own antique shop one day because I’m running out of space in my home for all of the little treasures I collect.

My home is my inspiration because it’s where I practice the real yoga—awareness and presence in the present. Sometimes it’s as blissful as boeuf bourgingon. Sometimes it’s painful and intense. Yoga reminds me to be at home in each moment, in the good times and the bad. This website is dedicated to living one’s yoga and to the process of self-discovery that happens along the way.
