Surrendering to the Now

Let me tell you what I know: it’s not easy to put this practice into practice. We can earnestly study the philosophy of yoga, but to know it—to live it—requires that we step courageously into the present moment and surrender to what is.

As many of you know, Billy and I had to put our beloved Ellie to sleep just two days ago. And, because many of you know me, you know how deeply I feel this loss. In the spirit of living my yoga, I’m going to take a short break from my writing to give myself some space to grieve. This is not easy for me—I’m compelled to focus on my creative passion rather than on myself—but if I’m being honest, I need a little time to care for my broken heart.

Don’t worry, I’ll be back very soon, ready to write and create and share! Thank you so much for your love and support—for reminding me that Ellie’s death is a big deal, and that I should be kind to myself. I’m taking your words to heart and putting my practice into practice—I’m surrendering to the now. See you soon.

  1. Chrissy- I’m so sorry about Ellie. Our dogs are valued family members and friends and losing them leaves a hole in our lives and hearts. Take care of yourself and Billy and know what a wonderful life you have Ellie.

    • Thank you so much, Nancy. We miss her so much. We’ve found comfort in looking at photos and telling stories about her. She lives on in our hearts. Much love to you.

  2. Oh, Chrissy. I’m so sorry to hear this. Ellie was such a light, and I always loved hearing your stories about her in class, and having had the honor of meeting her a few times. She was a beautiful soul in a beautiful dog. May we all be so lucky to have an Ellie in our lives.

    • Thank you, sweet Kat. My heart swelled reading your comment. She was indeed a beautiful soul. Much love to you!
