I’m
and I’m so happy you’re here.
My life and work are inspired by a simple philosophy: you are already h(om)e.
Faith
Our theme for March is faith. The Sanskrit word for faith is sraddha, which is also translated as confidence and trust. B.K.S. Iyengar writes in his book, Light on the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, “Sraddha should not be understood simply as faith. It also conveys mental and intellectual firmness. Interestingly, Patanjali’s first use of the word sraddha is explicitly to encourage the sadhaka [practitioner] to intensify his sadhana [practice] in order to reach the highest goal.”
Spring Mood Board
Did I mention that I’m over winter? I’ve been complaining about it a lot—the dark, the cold, the never-ending bleakness of it all. To be honest, it hasn’t been all that bad. I am loving so many things about our first winter in Connecticut. There have been cozy afternoons by the fire with a glass of wine, snow days with Chloé discovering the joy of hot chocolate with mini marshmallows, and lots of slow cooking.
Homemade Chicken Noodle Soup
This homemade chicken noodle soup is getting me through winter. Making it has become a sort of ritual—I roast a chicken every Sunday and use the leftovers for soup. There’s something so grounding about a pot of stock simmering on the stove. Life is chaos everywhere but at least we have homemade chicken broth!
Easeful Breathing
Pranayama is the practice of experiencing the boundless potential of prana, or life force, inherent within us. It’s less about contorting the breath and more about removing the obstructions that block its flow. From this perspective, pranayama is a surrender to the awesome reservoir of depth and power already within us.
